Instructor or Lecturer of Accounting

The Opportunity

The Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting in the College of Business at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 9-month instructor or lecturer in Accounting. The appointment will begin Fall 2024 and will be located on the UCF main campus.  The selected candidate will teach and act as the course lead for our Intermediate Accounting I course. This course acts as the final step to students’ acceptance into the undergraduate Accounting Major.

We offer undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. programs in accounting and are among the elite group of accounting programs accredited by the AACSB. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting (for an instructor), at the time of application at time of application or a Ph.D. or DBA in accounting (for a lecturer) is required by date of hire. Degrees must be from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated record of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level. Evidence could include above average teaching ratings in a previous teaching position or other types of teaching recognition or awards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and/or implement new and/or innovative teaching methods, for example, active learning, case analysis, simulations, or other methods of going “beyond the textbook.”

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching intermediate financial accounting at the undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with teaching colleagues. Evidence could include previous leadership positions requiring the development of a common curriculum between sections for undergraduate courses in accounting.
  • Holding a CPA designation.
  • For lecturer candidates – previous publications in peer-reviewed academic and/or professional outlets.
