Assistant Professor – Department of Teacher Education (Mathematics Education)

Rider University’s College of Education and Human Services seeks an individual for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Mathematics Education in the Department of Teacher Education to begin on September 1, 2019.

 

The successful candidate will: a) teach undergraduate foundation and/or methods courses;

b) develop and facilitate school-based field experiences; c) advise undergraduate students;

d) supervise student teachers; e) serve on department and university-wide committees; and

f) participate in the organization and administration of certification programs. The candidate must be prepared to carry out a research agenda and to disseminate results in scholarly publications and at conferences. An established or developing record of scholarship is highly valued.

The successful candidate must have: a) an earned doctorate in Education; b) successful classroom teaching experience in K-12 teaching – elementary and public school experience preferred; c) a commitment to developing pre- and in-service programs; d) experience with infusing educational technology in teaching; e) identified research interests and a commitment to conducting research; f) demonstrated knowledge of inclusive practice; and g) participation in field-based programs and courses.

The following experiences are highly valued: a) experience with teaching and/or research in the area of K-12 mathematics or in the preparation of pre-service elementary or middle school teachers for the teaching of mathematics; b) work with diverse student populations or efforts to increase the diversity of the teaching force; c) supervision; and d) prior experience teaching at the university level.

Rider University is located in central New Jersey, close to the metropolitan areas of New York and Philadelphia. The College of Education and Human Services has NCATE/CAEP accreditation. The university’s student body is comprised of approximately 6000 undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.
