IUSD, the only dental school in the state, located on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis, offers a dynamic learning environment in which teaching, research, clinical care, and community service come together. The school is extending its programs elsewhere in the state, including Fort Wayne and soon Evansville, and delivers a wide range of services and outreach to an expanding patient base that currently numbers over 20,000. IUSD enrolls approximately 800 students annually in degree and/or certificate programs in dentistry, allied health programs, and advanced dental programs that are tailored to the current and future needs of the professions. A recently awarded four-year $1.6 million HRSA grant will support IUSD Community-Based Dental Education.
IUSD is committed to cutting-edge biomedical research with the ultimate goal of improving oral and systemic health. Recently, through new federal funding, research faculty recruitments, and collaborations, IUSD is seeking to expand its research in multiple NIDCR strategic research areas including dental informatics, dental public health, and regenerative dentistry.
