Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Sustainable/Urban Horticulture

The Department of Plant and Soil Science (PSS), Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of horticulture located at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The successful candidate will provide leadership for existing and future research, teaching, and outreach engagement programs in horticulture. The appointee will lead applied research activities related to controlled environments, horticulture plant production systems, urban horticulture, vertical farming, or other pertinent horticulture disciplines relevant to the region, state, and nation. If hired at the Full Professor rank (or as an Associate Professor with more than four years of experience) the candidate would be eligible to receive the Rockwell Endowed Chair of Horticulture. The successful candidate for this 9-month, academic appointment will be expected to establish a grant-supported research program, and contribute to the continuous advancement of teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in horticulture. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with Departmental scientists (horticulturists, plant breeders, plant geneticists, molecular biologists, entomologists, and soil scientists), as well as researchers from the Department’s major partnering institutions, which includes Texas A&M AgriLife and USDA-ARS. The successful candidate is expected to excel in research, scholarship, and classroom instruction. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate horticulture courses currently offered within the Department curriculum. The successful appointee will also participate in undergraduate and graduate student advising. He / she is expected to work with government and industry clientele, and provide services to the Department, College, University, and the community.
