The Berkeley Carroll School seeks nominations and applications for the position of Director of Strategic Communications to begin January 2024. The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking, collaborative communicator able to leverage opportunities as they present while also effectively anticipating and navigating challenges.
Berkeley Carroll is a vibrant, independent, coeducational day school serving almost 1,000 students in Prekindergarten through 12th grade. Centrally located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, Berkeley Carroll brings together students from 60 zip codes throughout New York City and New Jersey. From the founding of the original Berkeley Institute in the late 19th century, through its evolution to the present, the school has been committed to providing a rigorous college preparatory program and a student-centered approach to education that focuses on critical, ethical, and global thinking. The Director of Strategic Communications will report to Head of School Dr. Lisa Waller and leads all aspects of internal and external communications to develop and sustain an integrated marketing and communications plan. The Director oversees a three-person Communications Office that is responsible for the stories that the School tells about its mission, values, and priorities and the ways that they manifest in the student experience. Well versed and practiced in diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Director will build and fortify connections to and relationships within a diverse and vibrant school community. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience; the expected range is $165,000 - $225,000.
