The Department of Languages and Cultural Studies at Stony Brook University is conducting a search for an Assistant Professor of Francophone Studies.
This position will be central to reinforcing French and Francophone studies at Stony Brook University. It will involve teaching French language, literature and culture at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and will expand on a Francophone curriculum taught in English while contributing to the growing program in Globalization Studies and International Relations.
This position calls for an interdisciplinary scholar of French and Francophone Studies whose interest will focus in particular on postcolonial and decolonial studies. Research interests may include transnational studies, migration and diaspora studies, social and cultural history, literary and cultural studies, translation studies.
This is a full-time appointment with an initial three-year term, renewable. Reappointment and retention are contingent upon satisfactory performance evaluations.
The salary is $85,000 plus location pay. Assistant Professors teach two courses per semester, hold office hours, serve on committees, and participate in curriculum development and assessment.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in a field relevant to Francophone Studies.
- Experience in teaching French and Francophone Studies at the university level.
- High level of proficiency in both spoken and written French and English.
- Experience with teaching online via Zoom or other synchronous platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A specialization in one or more of the following areas: Transnational, Postcolonial, Decolonial Studies.
