Ohio University is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Financial Aid Advising and Assistant Director of Professional Judgment.

Assistant Director of Financial Aid Advising: The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Advising meets with prospective and current students through in-person and virtual appointments and corresponds by phone and email. The incumbent is part of the Client Services team supporting outreach to students and mass communications. This position serves as a back-up to our Administrative Services Associate in lobby coverage and monitors in-person traffic. This position monitors phone volume and plans for staff coverage, as needed, in addition to regularly answering calls. They are responsible for planning on-call and phone coverage schedules, as well as determining, daily, additional coverage support based on staffing. The position processes various financial aid reports and makes PeopleSoft updates accordingly. Provides direct advising to prospective and current students and families by appointment, walk-in, phone, and email. Advising includes details regarding types and terms of financial aid, affordability and costs, loan repayment, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and financial literacy. Resolves federal financial aid overawards, manages aid revisions, and tracks eligibility for various types of aid. Manages phone, on-call, and client services scheduling and coverage. This includes preparation of schedules each semester, as well as daily assessment of changes in coverage. Monitors phone and in-person volume and adjusts coverage as needed. Monitors financial aid email inbox to assure timely and accurate responses. Provides in-person advising to students and families during high volume times. Serves as backup for Administrative Services Associate during lunch and break times. Process quality control reports for awarding and disbursement and makes updates in PeopleSoft, as needed.

 

Assistant Director of Professional Judgment: The primary focus of this position is management of the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) program including monitoring of federal regulations to ensure compliance as well as implementation of regulatory changes, as needed. Responsible for frequent correspondence with students regarding SAP appeals and outcomes, appeal preparation, and chairing the appeal committee. This position also manages professional judgment processing, specifically adjustments to Costs of Attendance, Dependency Appeals, and the Change of Income process. This includes analysis of payroll and tax documentation, need analysis calculations, and ISIR correction processing along with frequent correspondence with students and parents. Advises students and parents and participates in presentations and outreach for financial aid, recruitment, and/or enrollment management initiatives.
