Wright State University invites applicants for the position of Dean of Raj Soin College of Business (RSCoB) to lead the college with dynamic and visionary leadership to achieve our mission of enabling our students and regional business stakeholders to discover, develop, and realize their highest potential through our teaching, research, and outreach efforts. The Dean must be prepared to support varied undergraduate and Masters-level programs, lead a diverse faculty, and both uphold existing collaborative partnerships while simultaneously developing new ones across the university and the community. The Dean serves as principal officer for the college and represents it in a wide range of settings with different stakeholder groups. The Dean also oversees the daily operation of the college while holding research and student success, including student recruitment and retention, as fundamental priorities.

Wright, Wright State University is a student-centered, public research institution with an R-2 Carnegie Mellon classification, based in the Dayton, Ohio Metropolitan Area. Wright State offers a comprehensive list of undergraduate and graduate programs through colleges of: Business; Health, Education and Human Services; Engineering and Computer Science; Liberal Arts; Science and Mathematics; and Medicine. Surrounded by a lush 200-acre biological reserve, Wright State University’s 557-acre main campus is located in a suburban setting just outside of Dayton, Ohio. The area is home to many international organizations, especially in areas of defense, healthcare, science, and business services.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned graduate degree in a discipline related to programs offered by RSCoB
  • At least five years of industry executive management or academic administrative experience
  • A proven track record of effective administrative, personnel, and budgetary experience in a leadership role 

 

Preferred:

  • Superior interpersonal skills in order to inspire and engage with the Dayton community members and corporate partners
  • Experience with student/customer recruitment and retention
  • Experience with accreditation/regulatory bodies such as AACSB
  • Evidence of a commitment to, and success in, securing external funding, including private and corporate gifts
  • Strong communication skills, including being highly articulate as well as an attentive and intuitive listener, with faculty, staff, students, and alumni 
  • Evidence of developing and nurturing beneficial relationships with a range of individuals, including a commitment to foster interaction between colleges and professional schools as well as enhancing workforce development
  • A proven track record in recruiting, nurturing, and retaining top faculty or employees
  • A demonstrated commitment to data-informed decision making and a collaborative and transparent decision mode for policy development and implementation
  • Personal characteristics that include openness, energy, intellect, dignity, integrity, optimism, and team-building
  • The ability to development and implement a strategic plan
