The David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science in the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions. Priority areas include:
- Algorithms and Complexity
- Bioinformatics
- Quantum Computing
- Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, AI for Science
- All areas of computer science, including multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary research.
Excellent faculty members are sought who will enhance the School’s strengths. Positions will normally be at the probationary (tenure track) assistant professor level. Appointments with tenure, at the associate and full professor level, are possible as circumstances warrant. At least one hire in each of the targeted areas is planned. All successful applicants are expected to engage actively in graduate student supervision and teaching, to contribute to the overall development of the School, and to be, or to have demonstrated the potential to be, leaders in their research field. A PhD in computer science, or equivalent, is required. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience; the salary range is $130,000 – $180,000, and negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024; however, alternate start dates may be negotiated.
The David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science is the largest computer science school in Canada, with 114 faculty members. It enjoys an excellent reputation in theoretical and applied research and houses a diverse research program of international stature.
