Faculty Position in the Health Care Management Program (rank open)
Rider University is seeking a candidate for a tenure track appointment in our Health Care Management major and minor (undergraduate) housed in the Department of Finance and Economics in the College of Business Administration. We are seeking a candidate with a doctorate in a relevant field such as Health Administration or Public Health. Candidates should have appropriate experience and expertise to engage in the teaching, value, and research activities required of faculty. The position will begin in September 2019.
The candidate should be qualified to teach an introductory course which provides an overview of the health care industry in the United States and examines the interactions of the components producing and supplying health care. The candidate should also be qualified to teach a course in Population Health Care Management, which explores methods and tools used by epidemiologists. Other required teaching includes Health Care Financing, covering payment arrangements for health care in the United States and analyzing how these arrangements affect health care utilization and health. The candidate is expected to lead a community-based research seminar for students. This involves engaging in outreach to partner with a community organization and mentoring a class of students to provide an analysis of the questions posed by the community partner. Preferably, the candidate will have experience with teaching some or all of these courses. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment supportive of the multicultural needs of Rider University and the surrounding community are highly desired.
It is anticipated that the Candidate will serve as the lead faculty member in the Health Care Management area. Among the value-based activities in this lead role are: coordination of all current courses in the major and minor, proposing and bringing to fruition new courses, advising students, attending Admissions events to recruit new students, initiating outreach to leaders in the healthcare industry to create Internship and employment opportunities and to serve on our Advisory Board, hiring part-time faculty to teach courses, creating and maintaining marketing materials and catalog copy, working closely with Career Services to help students find internships and jobs, advising students on graduate programs, and providing assessment materials for the major. The new faculty will represent the Health Care Management area to the University at large, including the Health Studies Institute, will facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration within the Rider community, and be an active participant in lectures/speaker series. It is hoped that the candidate will have experience with some or many of these types of activities.
Finally, it is expected that the candidate will be actively engaged in scholarly research in an area or areas related to the general field of Health Care Management and/or to a particular sub-field of expertise, related to the courses offered in the major and minor.
