Department Chair, Modern Language Studies

The Department of Modern Language Studies at Texas Christian University seeks an experienced and capable leader to serve as chair of the department.  The department has eight full-time faculty members, promoting the study of French, German, Italian, Chinese and Japanese language, literature, and culture. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor is expected.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in one of the modern languages mentioned above, a record as an accomplished teacher and scholar, and administrative and organizational skills necessary to lead the department.  TCU values the teacher-scholar model and seeks candidates with a promise of long-term successful scholarly engagement, a dedication to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment, and a commitment to developing diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus.
