Position title: Assistant Project Scientist
Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $71,500 - $91,000. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science (SSPPS) is conducting an open search for Project Scientists (non-tenured, Assistant Level). At UC San Diego, Project Scientists are academic researchers who are expected to make significant and creative contributions to a research team but are not necessarily leaders of the research team. They are not required to carry out independent research or develop an independent research reputation but will publish and carry out research or creative programs with supervision by a member of the Professor or Professional Research series. University and public service are encouraged but not required and they do not have formal teaching responsibilities. Appointments and duration vary depending on the length of the research project and availability of funding. Research topics include but not limited to heart disease, mouse models of heart disease, gene expression analyses, cardiomyocyte cell cycle regulation, cardiac regeneration, whole genome expression analyses, including single cell preparation and analyses.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Doctorate degree or its equivalent, including but not limited to PhD, or its field of study.
- A minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience in one or more of the following areas: heart disease, mouse models of heart disease, gene expression analyses, cardiomyocyte cell cycle regulation, or heart regeneration.
- Publish and carry out research or creative programs with supervision by a member of the Professor or Professional Research series.
- Experience in research topics include but not limited to heart disease, mouse models of heart disease, gene expression analyses, cardiomyocyte cell cycle regulation, or cardiac regeneration, whole genome expression analyses, including single cell preparation and analyses.
- Demonstrates strong potential of creative activity or innovative research.
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrates commitment to innovative research as it relates to past/current experiences.
- Experience and high level of interest in mentoring/training.
- Interdisciplinary and/or collaborative activity demonstrated from projects, or publication records.
