Description The Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in the area of Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) beginning in Fall 2024. The CCEE Department is strongly committed to excellence in both research and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications Applicants must hold a B.S. in, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a closely-related discipline, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (with CEM Emphasis), Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely-related discipline. Applicants should be active researchers who will develop and maintain an extramurally supported research program, publish and disseminate research findings, and serve as leaders at the forefront of the field. The candidate is expected to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the classroom and in research as well as engage in university/community service activities. The successful candidate is also expected to develop research in the broader area of CEM, with a specific focus including, but not limited to, automation in construction, construction to support adaptation of infrastructure to multi-hazards, human factors in construction of civil infrastructure, innovative construction system, methods, and materials for sustainability and resiliency, design-construction integration for constructability, modularization, Industry 4.0, construction supply chain, or other closely-related areas. Applicants with prior teaching and/or industry experience are particularly encouraged to apply.         

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups. The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule for Assistant Professors (https://www.calstate.edu/csusystem/careers/compensation/Pages/SalaryScheduleDetails.aspx?RecordId=52053#- Keyword=instructional%20faculty%20academic%20year-Class=0-CBID=R03-Date=1-PLYear=2023- PLNumber=2303-Recs=15)  and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range is from $95,000-$103,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, and salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances.
