Job Description

University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Department of History invites applications for a ranked, non-tenure track, full-time Assistant Teaching Professor position in African Diasporic, African, and/or African American history. The position begins in the 2024-2025 academic year. This position has opportunity for ranked promotion.

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate courses including the early American survey and/or world survey courses in addition to specialty courses in the successful candidate's areas of expertise. Experience with digital history or public history is a plus. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitments to community engagement in teaching and service, and an effective pedagogy with active contributions to a welcoming and supportive environment for a culturally inclusive student body.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidate may be ABD at time of application, but a PhD is required at time of employment.

Full Time/Part Time

This is a 9-month, full-time, benefit-eligible, ranked, non-tenure track, faculty appointment beginning in Fall 2024 semester. Opportunity for ranked promotion.

Salary

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
