Mitchell Hamline School of Law (MHSL or Mitchell Hamline) invites nominations and applications for the position of President and Dean.

Mitchell Hamline provides a legal education grounded in theory and distinguished by exceptional practical training. A forward-thinking, autonomous law school governed by an independent Board of Trustees and with a history dating back more than 100 years, MHSL has continually shaped legal education to be relevant to today’s students, their future clients, and the legal profession. MHSL maintains an unparalleled commitment to making legal education accessible and offers an unmatched number of enrollment options, including the nation’s first blended learning program, which allows students from around the country and the globe to attend without relocating. MHSL students graduate prepared to put their degree into practice or use their legal training in the profession of their choice.

Upon joining the MHSL community, the President and Dean will provide inspiring leadership and careful oversight for Mitchell Hamline School of Law to ensure that all aspects of the institution effectively serve its teaching, scholarly, and service missions. The School’s next leader will have the opportunity to unify the community around a shared vision for the future; support and strengthen MHSL’s innovative approach to education; reinvigorate commitments to and efforts around diversity, access, equity, inclusion, and belonging; and enhance relationships with MHSL’s approximately 20,000 alumni and other community members. Ideal candidates will be dedicated advocates for legal education who possess the managerial and leadership skills to successfully steward an independent law school in partnership with the Board of Trustees. They will be experienced leaders, managers, and fundraisers committed to thoughtful decision-making and follow-through. They will also value transparency, frequent communication, and innovation while demonstrating civility, professionalism, integrity, and humility.
