Job Description

The Senior Business Administrator acts as the chief financial officer for the McNulty Leadership Program, the Center for Leadership and Change Management, and the Lipman Family Prize. In this regard, the Senior BA provides centralized, comprehensive, and sophisticated financial analyses for Leadership at Wharton. This position has primary responsibility for the operating budget and financial analysis/modeling, working with stakeholders to manage their budgets, allocating school funds, gift and endowment funds appropriately and reporting to the senior leadership on trends, cash positions, financial performance, and cash flow management for the various programmatic offerings under the umbrella of the McNulty Leadership Program (such as MGMT 6100, WH 1010, Wharton Leadership Ventures, Executive Coaching and Feedback Program, P3, Nonprofit Board Program, Authors@Wharton , Women's Leadership Initiatives, and graduate and undergraduate Fellowships).

The Senior Business Administrator is responsible for all budgets, forecasting, reconciliations, monthly payroll and associated HR tasks. This includes providing financial models, spend and trend analysis, budget variance reporting, and prioritizing recommendations for planning decisions that impact Leadership at Wharton. The Business Administrator will also provide support for year end closing and tax reporting preparation. This individual will partner with Wharton HR to assist with various aspects of employee engagement including, hiring, onboarding, leaves, performance management, and offboarding for MLP. The position will be knowledgeable and comfortable standardizing business processes and resource planning tools and leveraging technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness to enable fact-based, timely, and collaborative decisions that enhance the mission of Wharton Leadership and The Wharton School.

The Senior Business Administrator also has supervisory responsibility, overseeing the Financial Coordinator and providing guidance to the Program Coordinators responsible for the delivery of programming.


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience in financial management or related field, preferably in a university setting

  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in using financial software and tools, including BEN Financials, Business Objects, Excel, etc.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders

    Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
