In its search for a new Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Beacon community is intent upon attracting an educational leader and colleague who is visionary, collaborative, and strategic in assessing academic needs as well as engaging the faculty and community in setting new curricular paths and academic structures.

The Position

The VPAA will assume leadership at a time of institutional growth and financial stability. Beacon College seeks a dynamic chief academic officer with the broad-based knowledge, experience, and a record of sustained achievement in postsecondary instruction and administration. The competitive candidate for this position should have a significant background in undergraduate teaching, solid administrative and supervisory credentials, and experience with and advocacy on behalf of students with learning and attention issues (LAI) in either higher education or secondary schools.

Among the requirements for the VPAA position is a doctorate (or equivalent terminal degree) in an academic discipline from a regionally accredited (or similarly recognized) institution of higher education; a tangible professional record of achievement as a teacher/scholar and as a strategic and inclusive leader devoted to the highest standards of integrity, problem solving, and excellence in written and verbal communication; leadership skills in negotiating complex collegiate environments; an established track record of creating a culture of teamwork, trust, open and regular communication, mutual respect, and a commitment to best practices in instructional design, program delivery, the supervision/professional development of a diverse workforce; and demonstrated use of data-driven decisions to advance institutional priorities related to academic and operational affairs.
