The Exercise Science and Community Health Department at the University of West Florida invites applications for the position of Instructor.

 

Salary: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications: The position requires a Master's degree in Exercise Science, Health Education or a closely related field and experience in teaching in higher education. The applicant must have at least 18 graduate hours in Exercise Science, Health, and/or Physical Education. Personal training or group exercise instructor certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association or ACE are preferred. Course work in exercise physiology, kinesiology, pedagogy, health promotion and wellness and personal training are preferred. Course work in the adolescent learner and the adult learner, educational leadership, and educational technology and experience as a personal trainer are all highly desirable.

 

Duties: The successful candidate will have a commitment to teaching excellence and be required to teach undergraduate courses in a face-to-face and/or online format in such areas as fitness and group training, health and wellness, and aging and health. Applicants should have a commitment to curriculum development by participating in the creation and evaluation of courses; participating in program advisory committees; contributing to the Exercise Science program accreditation process; attending departmental meetings, and serving as backup for other faculty members. Additionally, the candidate will facilitate relationships with colleagues within the university and stakeholders at the local, state, national and international levels, as well as have an interest in collaborating with tenured-track faculty members in mentoring undergraduate students in research. Additional qualifications include excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment; and commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion.
