PRESIDENT

The Utah State Board of Regents invites nominations and applications for the position of President of Weber State University, one of eight institutions within the Utah System of Higher Education.

Weber State inspires impassioned loyalty from its faculty, staff, students and alumni.  The reason is simple: nothing is more important to us than our students’ success.  We engage students of all ages from all backgrounds.  For us, this isn’t just a platitude—we are an open admission institution, serving over 27,000 students from some of the most ethnically and economically diverse cities in Utah. The University cultivates remarkably personalized teaching, mentoring, and engaged learning throughout our 225 undergraduate certificate and degree programs, and 15 graduate degrees.  But along with being a learning institution, the University is a community leader.  Whether it is volunteer service, outreach, economic development, or just making Utah a better place to live, Weber State does it all in lockstep with our community partners.

The University is a national leader for advancements in higher education, such as our dual-mission model, stackable credentials, technology-enhanced learning, and nationally recognized sustainability practices across our multiple campuses.  We are looking for a visionary leader who will accelerate our upward and outward trajectory to help students succeed through learning, scholarship and community leadership.

Candidates should be proven leaders at a comprehensive academic institution, with responsibility over traditional academic programs and an appreciation for the liberal arts and the roles of career and technical education. Ideal candidates should have a record of administrative and scholarly achievement in higher education, be relentless fundraisers, and have the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of constituents, elected officials and organizations.  Successful candidates will have a demonstrated passion for student success and nurturing strong student relationships. WSU’s commitment to diversity and inclusion are central to our mission and evident through our campus and curriculum. Candidates must be inclusive in their methods and perspectives, creating an environment where these practices can flourish.  A terminal degree is strongly preferred.

Our campuses are located in heart of Utah’s legendary outdoor recreation attractions, complemented with many metropolitan delights—it is a fantastic place to live and work.  So, if you decide to apply, study our retirement benefits, because once you work here you will never want to work anywhere else.

Interested parties are encouraged to submit a current CV and a detailed letter addressing how the candidate’s experience matches the position requirements and the institution’s mission by August 25, 2018.   Confidential inquiries, nominations, and application materials should be directed to:
