Technical Designer

The technical designer will oversee the development of student garments from start to finish by communicating effectively with students on all intended fit corrections and technical information. This position involves assisting fashion students in implementing design changes, making contingency plans, and conforming to SCAD standards as well as instructing students with using various equipment in the fashion studios. The technical designer will work with different softwares and machines as necessary. Additional responsibilities includes operating industrial sewing machines and industrial sergers/overlocks.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Fashion degree or previous work experience in a fashion-related industry
  • Knowledge of factory production, tools, and machinery
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Takes direction and executes projects and student work without additional supervision

Travel required: Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
