Associate Chair, Foundation Studies

As a full-time associate chair of foundation studies, you will oversee and guide the work of department faculty and staff, support and mentor students, and collaborate with academic leaders, faculty, and support staff from across the university’s global locations. You will ensure all services related to your department’s academic offerings are planned and delivered at the highest quality and without interruption, as well as ensure all faculty and staff work toward the achievement of the university’s mission, vision, and values, as well as the university’s strategic plan and the 8Rs: responsibility, resources, recruitment, retention, recognition, revenue, research, and results.

The successful candidate is an exceptional leader with the ability to transform vision into strategic implementation through measurable action and a reputation for excellence in the field, high standards, and innovation. A distinguished record of scholarship and evidence of success in creative and collaborative endeavors is essential, as is spectacular interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal). The candidate should demonstrate superb problem-solving and organization abilities; a commitment to teaching, learning, and personal and professional integrity; and a keen eye for detail and accuracy when dealing with such matters as scheduling, budget management and oversight, and preparation of required reports. Paramount is a thorough understanding of curriculum development and assessments, the ability to conduct thorough and thoughtful evaluations, and good judgment while acting on behalf of students’ best academic interests.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree in a relevant discipline
  • Distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and/or professional expertise
  • Successful experience in a leadership or supervisory position within an academic environment
