Professor of Design Management

SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time professor of design management to guide enterprising students through the creative and strategic complexities of design thinking and prepare them for professional careers in leading organizations and projects with design-driven innovation and value creation.

Professors in this progressive design management program impart a focus on collaboration and user-centered design at all organizational levels, teaching students how to create the conditions for corporations and teams to innovate. The results of this transformative education are evident: SCAD students consistently sweep the student categories for competitions like UX Awards and their work on SCADpad, a micro-housing project, earned global media attention and the World Architecture News Urban Design Award for its innovations. SCAD design management professors have also helped propel graduates to go on to successful careers at innovative organizations such as 3M, frog, General Electric, IBM, Procter & Gamble, Microsoft, and others.

As part of a committed group of SCAD design management faculty, you will advance students’ knowledge in design and market development and apply business and design strategy to real-world situations. Working alongside highly motivated and diverse graduate students and faculty, you will also find opportunities to lead collaborative studios to research and develop complex design solutions with industry partners such as Google, The Home Depot, Steelcase, and The Coca-Cola Company.

The successful candidate has a flair for combining consumer insights with creative strategy and execution, as well as a demonstrated ability to create structured, multi-staged executional programs in education or design. The candidate is visible in the design industry, often appearing as a subject matter expert at conference talks, on podcasts, in articles, and more. Broad-based creative skills beyond industrial design are essential, as is digital fluency (e.g., strategy, analytics, moving from process to execution). The ability to influence businesses to create and implement new designs, methods, and processes that build or improve business is also vital.

This is your chance to work with remarkable students and faculty in a vibrant and entrepreneurial workplace woven throughout the historic district of Savannah, Ga. - a walkable, bikeable coastal city that provides a living laboratory for the study of art and design.
