Art Director

As the art director, you will work closely with the creative direction team and directors to shape the creative output of SCAD video and film projects, promoting the brand in new and exciting ways. You will lead the planning and execution of motion graphics, yielding high-quality assets across events, web, and social media that hits business objectives. You will collaborate with other teams to deliver conceptual creative work while being responsible for creating and presenting concepts, boards, style frames, and end products to clients.

In this role, you will encourage and nurture the creative and practical talent of the creative direction team while working in collaboration with many other departments. You will also work on pre-production planning and assist with budgets and schedules, maintain SCADTV’s web presence, and regularly make yourself available to assist colleagues. Additionally, you will troubleshoot issues as they arise, maintain contemporary creative/technical skills, meet deadlines, and be involved in design organization/award submissions.

The ideal candidate is fluent in design strategy and trends and able to work autonomously to deliver on-brand, on-brief art direction with little oversight. The candidate is calm under pressure, extremely organized, prompt, and has a positive attitude. The ability to tactfully defuse stressful situations is key, and an appreciate for works-in-progress is beneficial.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • More than five years of relevant industry experience
  • More than three years of experience managing a team of 3-5 people
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Mastery of Adobe programs, specifically After Effects
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, present, and develop motion media
  • Knowledge of 3D and visual effects (UI/UX/VR/AR)

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field

Travel: Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
