    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Position title:
    Pediatric Medical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics
    Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $155,000-$275,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.     POSITION DESCRIPTION

    The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Genetics is currently seeking to expand the Medical Genetics and Biochemical Genetics team.

    The Division is actively involved in clinical care, research, teaching, and service. The Division sees more than 4,000 patients per year in a variety of clinics, primarily as outpatients at Rady Children's HospitalSan Diego, but also at UCSD Medical Center, throughout Southern California, and in Mexico.

    The successful candidates are expected to provide clinical leadership within the Department of Pediatrics, the Children's Specialists of San Diego Medical Group, and the Medical Practice Foundation of Rady Children's Hospital. This would include oversite of divisional budgets, quality improvement activities, and teaching and educational curriculum for trainees at all levels. Clinical activities could reflect the candidate's specific interest as well as the general genetics program. Leadership roles in the division may be available for select candidates.

    The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Basic qualifications
    (Required at Time of Application)
    Candidates must have an MD or equivalent or MD/PhD in Health-related fields and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must have solid clinical experience and/or research focus in Genetics.

    Additional qualifications (Required at Time of Start)
    Candidates must be board eligible in Medical Genetics and/or Biochemical Genetics by the time of start.

    Preferred qualifications
    Candidates with evidence of regional or national involvement in education and/or research activities (societies, conference presentations, abstract reviews, publications, grants, and others) are preferred. Candidates with experience providing leadership in teaching, research, or service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment are preferred.
