Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) seeks a creative manager and leader with extensive advancement, development and external relations experience to serve as its next senior vice president for external affairs (SVP).

WesternU is a non-profit private university with its main campus in Pomona, California, and a second campus in Lebanon, Oregon. Founded in 1977, Western University of Health Sciences' mission is to produce, in a humanistic tradition, health care professionals and biomedical knowledge that will enhance and extend the quality of life in our communities.

WesternU is the largest graduate health professions university in the nation, employing over 1,100 dedicated faculty and staff with an enrollment of more than 3,800 students in 21 degree programs across eight colleges, including College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Graduate Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Dental Medicine, Optometry and Podiatric Medicine. In addition to its programs in California, the university also operates a second campus in the Pacific Northwest, in Lebanon, Oregon. This campus, known as WesternU Oregon, welcomed its inaugural class of 107 osteopathic medical students in July 2011 and has grown to more than 400 students in two colleges. Occupational therapy and physical therapy are among the newer programs on the Lebanon campus. In addition to possessing program-specific professional accreditation, WesternU is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).

Reporting directly to the president, the incoming senior vice president for external affairs will be a key advisor and thought partner to the University Executive Operations Team led by President Robin Farias-Eisner, who began his tenure at WesternU in March 2022 as its third president. The SVP will oversee the university's entire external affairs team, including Development, Alumni Relations, Public Affairs & Marketing, and Community & Governmental Affairs. The SVP will be responsible for campaign planning, serving as the principal fundraiser for the institution, and providing leadership to the alumni, communications, marketing and government affairs units. The SVP should be a collaborative and team-oriented executive who is a strong relationship builder, a savvy fundraiser and possesses the skills and abilities necessary to form strong external partnerships with business executives, community leaders and government agencies. A bachelor's degree is required, with preference given to candidates who possess a master's degree or higher.

The salary range for this position is $341,000 - $370,000.
