As the events planner you will be responsible for planning and managing all aspects of student, presidential, and academic conferences, or community events, ensuring the mission of the university is executed. The management of multiple events simultaneously throughout the calendar year and of photo archives and inventory is crucial. The events planner will create unique ideas, concepts, and décor models while leading event meetings and communicating expectations of SCAD standards to clients. In this position you will arrange appropriate marketing and public relations, collect requests for proposals and estimates from vendors, coordinate all requests for the event, and submit necessary application paperwork.
This position requires meeting regularly with the assistant director of events to exchange information on all upcoming events. The event planner is responsible for working with SCAD physical resources and appropriate city departments to arrange spaces, security, and transportation as needed. This position supervises volunteers for events, completes research for ideal entertainment and decoration, and acts as the event host, overseeing each event entirely. Additional responsibilities include completing financial paperwork, compiling budget overviews, and performing other duties as assigned.

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Two years or more of related experience in events or conference coordination
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
