Cornell University seeks a visionary and innovative leader to serve as an inaugural member of a new IT structure designed to develop a cohesive and integrated IT enterprise across the institution. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will lead IT at Cornell's main campus in Ithaca, NY and Cornell Tech in New York City. The CIO will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology at one of the world's most prestigious universities. This incoming CIO will be tasked with identifying synergies to create a more agile and innovative IT environment across all the colleges and business units on the Ithaca campus and Cornell Tech. The CIO will provide strategic and operational leadership for administrative and mission applications, infrastructure, and security. The CIO will work collaboratively between the colleges and units and central IT, including building strong relationships, supporting the values and work of IT groups wherever they are housed, and ensuring that central solutions are designed to meet the specific needs of colleges and units. By breaking down silos and fostering collaboration across the university, the CIO can create a culture of innovation that will benefit students, faculty, and staff alike.

The ideal candidate for the CIO role will be a strategic and operational leader with experience working in a complex, decentralized higher education environment. This individual must have deep expertise in applications, infrastructure, research, security and analytics. The successful candidate will have a track record of developing and executing strategic plans that align with the organization's broader goals.

The success of the CIO depends on their interpersonal and leadership skills, as they work in close association with a diverse array of members of the Cornell community at all levels, coordinating IT across the colleges. The CIO is instrumental in influencing and leading changes to the current structure to serve the evolving needs of the university.

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $450,000 to $500,000 annually, commensurate with the successful candidate's experience. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. Compensation information listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on the specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
