Lecturer in International Relations

The University of Chicago invites applications for a Lecturer in the Committee on International Relations (CIR). This is a new, full-time position in CIR's one-year MA program in international relations. The initial appointment is for a two-year term, preferably beginning September 2018.

CIR is the nation's oldest graduate program in international relations, awarding the Master of Arts degree in International Relations to approximately 60-70 students per year.

The successful applicant will teach four graduate courses in the first year and five in the second year; advise MA student theses; and participate in admissions, student mentoring, and student recruitment. Specific course assignments will be determined in consultation with the Faculty Chair and Senior Lecturers, and will include a mix survey and specialized courses.

The ideal candidate is expected to maintain a high level of active engagement with the field at large in order to ensure the UChicago curriculum reflects the state of research. Diverse methodological and substantive research agendas are welcome. To be eligible, candidates must have defended the PhD by September 1, 2018. Applicants must also have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and advising/mentoring students.
