Assistant Professor of Sociology
Texas Christian University invites applications for a tenure track position in Sociology at the Assistant Professor level beginning the fall semester, 2019. While areas of research and teaching specialization are open, we are most interested in candidates whose areas would add to the department curriculum and research specializations. Some key areas of expansion under consideration are environmental sociology, work and occupations, and community/urban sociology, but other areas of research concentration will be considered. In particular, we are interested in candidates with a desire to teach undergraduate sociological research methods. Further, candidates who demonstrate a commitment to service learning, social justice, and community engagement are encouraged to apply. All applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarship. A Ph.D. at the time of hire is expected. The teaching load is five courses per academic year. The Sociology program is part of a collegial, multidisciplinary department that includes an Anthropology program and exists within a supportive and progressive academic community. TCU has over 8,500 undergraduate students and close to 10,000 students overall, including graduate students. The university is situated in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area in close proximity to Fort Worth’s cultural and business districts. The salary is competitive.
