Rush University
President

Rush University is pleased to announce a national search for its next President. This is a remarkable opportunity to lead an exceptional, nationally recognized research university, located in the heart of the Illinois Medical District.

Rush University, a private health sciences research university in Chicago, was founded in 1972 and is the academic enterprise of Rush University Medical Center. With its rich history, Rush continues to foster a rich learning environment through collaboration, research, education, and equity. Today, Rush University is comprised of four colleges: the Medical College, the College of Nursing, the College of Health Sciences, and the Graduate College. With an exclusive focus on the health sciences and a shared campus with Rush University Medical Center, Rush University integrates patient care, research, education, and community service. Through community service, research and diversity initiatives, Rush University prepares students to become leaders in healthcare.

The new President will be an exemplary and nationally recognized leader with an academic record, widely recognized for thought leadership in academic medicine and higher education. The individual will have held a leadership role in an organization and have a demonstrated ability to recruit, lead, and drive learning, discovery, and care in a complex academic environment, ensuring that the academic and clinical activities of the University continue to bring value to its many internal and external stakeholders. They will be committed to the student experience and ensuring success in the classroom and beyond. The President will lead development programs, setting philanthropic strategy and goals, serving as the public and private philanthropic face of the University, building relationships with prospective and established donors, identifying and developing new relationships with individuals and organizations, and collaborating with clinical and scientific leaders to engage and inspire donors to help build the University’s enterprise and support future capital expenditures and growth initiatives; develop broad and deep relationships with the existing and potential donor communities. Above all, the President must be viewed by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for balancing the various missions of the University as well as advocating and championing for equity, diversity, and inclusion.

In this highly visible role, the new President will report to Dr. Omar Lateef (President and CEO of RUSH University System for Health and RUSH University Medical Center) and to the Board of Governors (for the University, Chaired by Bob Winslow). Rush University is currently under the interim leadership of former President, Dr. Larry Goodman. A national search for a permanent successor has now commenced and Korn Ferry is pleased to partner with Rush University identify the next President.
