Visiting Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies

The Religion Department at Hope College seeks applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2023, specializing in biblical studies (New Testament/Early Christianity or Old Testament/Hebrew Bible). Candidates are expected to be experts in critical scholarship and methodologies as well as in the primary languages of biblical scholarship. The successful candidate will primarily teach lower division undergraduate courses, such as introductory courses on the New Testament and/or Old Testament/Hebrew Bible, and a general introduction to the study of Religion and the Christian tradition. The Visiting Assistant Professor will have a 4/4 teaching load and is expected to participate in co-curricular departmental activities.

 

Qualifications:

A completed Ph.D. and evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduates are preferred, but late-stage ABD will be also considered.
