Job Summary: 

The Dean reports directly to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs and is responsible for providing leadership and vision in strategic planning and implementation of programs within the College of Business and Management. 

The College consists of five departments: Business Management; Hospitality, Recreation, and Tourism Management; Sports Management; Digital Media and Technology; and, Leadership Studies and Military Science.

As the principal spokesperson and advocate for the College, the Dean formulates and implements policies and strategic plans; develops and reviews curricula and programs; and manages the human, financial and physical resources of the College, overseeing a budget of approximately $4.5 million.

The Dean facilitates collaboration and transparent communication between the College and all University constituents in support of program development, and effective problem solving and decision making. The Dean also supports faculty in innovation, risk-taking, professional development, and scholarship.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Candidates possessing a doctoral degree in a field relevant to one or more of the departments within the college.
  • Evidence of effective and creative leadership, management and administrative experience as a department chair or program director, along with a demonstrated commitment to diversity is required.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with and commitment to accreditation and assessment of student learning outcomes, as well as a proven network with external local, regional, and international business and industry leaders is highly preferred as well as a strong record of teaching, research, and service. Comparable and significant experience in industry also will be considered.
