Professor of Foundation Studies

SCAD Atlanta seeks a highly motivated full-time professor of foundation studies to lead the new generation of artists. The undergraduate experience at SCAD is anchored in foundation studies - a thoughtfully curated series of courses that build the visual, conceptual, and creative abilities essential to students’ development as professionals. The skills learned in foundation studies help propel SCAD students into a wide array of major-specific disciplines. As a professor you will be an essential part of the SCAD foundation studies team as you teach, assist in the development of curriculum, assessments, and exhibitions, collaborate across departments, and support university initiatives.

Located in the heart of midtown, SCAD Atlanta is nestled within a cultural landscape that includes theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops, and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine. Through rotating exhibitions at SCAD museums and galleries and the university’s extensive permanent collection, you and your students have exclusive access to objects of study at the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film in Atlanta, and the university’s numerous galleries. Enriching signature events invite visiting artists from across the globe to engage in creative discourse. Recent guest artists have included Carlos Cruz-Diez, Alfredo Jaar, Carrie Mae Weems, Hank Willis Thomas, Dustin Yellin, and Omar Victor Diop to name a few.
