Seton Hall University is seeking nominations and candidates for the inaugural Dean of the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media.

The inaugural Dean of this exciting new College will have the opportunity to help shape innovative curricula, programming, and research that address the future of education, media, design, and arts. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of agile, effective leadership with evidence of cross disciplinary innovation and be able to articulate and implement a vision with diverse stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate strategic thinking and possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be a skilled academic leader who builds consensus and is versatile, collaborative, and student-centered; committed and energized by the diversity of disciplines within this new college; successful in building external partnerships and attracting financial support; and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion coupled with a track record of success toward this goal. The successful candidate will also embrace and be able to articulate the University’s Catholic academic mission.

Applicants and nominees are expected to have the appropriate academic credentials and a proven record of scholarly publication, discipline-related research, and/or creative production that warrant the appointment as full professor with tenure at the University. Applications are welcome from any disciplines that can be articulated with the ethos of the College, including but not limited to education, communication, media, arts, design, technology, culture, psychology, and human development.

College of Human Development, Culture, and Media:
Launching in Summer 2023, Seton Hall’s emerging College of Human Development, Culture, and Media (CHDCM) will be the place for interdisciplinary learning focused on innovation along the full continuum of human development.

Integrating the exceptional faculty of Communication and the Arts, Education, and Human Services, along with dynamic cross-disciplinary curricula, the new College will seek to improve the human condition by collaborating across distinct fields in education and communication that uniquely complement one another and prepare students to lead, teach, and communicate effectively and innovatively across domains of expertise. Expression will underpin all facets of the integrated College’s portfolio — media as a form of education and artistic expression; teaching and learning as modes of creative expression and knowledge production; technology and design as drivers of new modes of expression; education and communication as vehicles of social agency. The College presently contains four (4) academic departments: Communication, Media, and the Arts; Education Leadership, Management and Policy; Educational Studies; and Professional Psychology and Family Therapy.
