Located in St. Petersburg, Florida in the Tampa Bay region, Eckerd College , Florida's only private national liberal arts college, is seeking a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as the next Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty.

Eckerd College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate degrees. Eckerd offers Bachelor of Arts, Fine Arts and Science degrees through 42 majors in the arts, humanities, sciences and social sciences. Today 130 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 230 full-time staff members serve 1,993 undergraduate students.

Eckerd's faculty encourage students to practice critical thinking, open and civil debate and the free exchange of ideas, all of which are essential to democracy, and must be honed in an open environment in which all can participate. The successful candidate will be a communicative, engaging, transparent and strategic leader with a demonstrated commitment to faculty excellence, academic freedom, and shared governance. The VPAA/DOF will possess the many key attributes necessary to help lead the institution through change, including the ability to inspire and instill trust and confidence; a dedication to a strong core liberal arts curriculum integrated with high quality academic programs; support for diversity, equity and inclusion across the campus community; a capacity to discern and address systemic problems along with a propensity for data-informed decision making; and outstanding communication skills. Critical to the new VPAA/DOF's success will be a record of progressive and successful leadership and management experience with a team-based approach to problem solving and execution. The VPAA/DOF will be a person of excellent judgment who combines both an exceptional analytical ability with substantial creativity (especially in problem solving) and a personal and professional outlook complemented by humility and a sense of humor.

In a time of rapid transformation in higher education, Eckerd's unique programs are well-positioned to sustain strong enrollments built on a solid financial foundation. The College community seeks a new VPAA/DOF who can capitalize on existing strengths; modernize systems, policies and practices within the division of academic affairs; and foster a spirit of innovation and strategic problem solving while honoring Eckerd College's rich history and commitment to shared governance. The new VPAA/DOF will play an integral role in the College's leadership team by collaborating with the president and a creative and dedicated faculty, staff, alumni and student body.
