PROVOST/VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
The International University of Grand-Bassam (IUGB), Côte d'Ivoire, invites applications for the position of Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer (Provost). The University seeks a transformational leader who possesses the academic, financial, and strategic acumen to offer strong, collaborative, and transparent leadership within the University community.
IUGB is an independent institution and the first university in Côte d'Ivoire to offer an American-style liberal arts and STEM education in English. IUGB opened in 2005 and was formally accredited on 16 May 2007. The University enrolls 850 degree-seeking students, of whom 43% are female and 13% are international (representing 21 countries).
As a center of excellence in West Africa in the fields of science, technology, management, and social sciences, the University is constructing its training policy around rigor, competence, building solid relationships to business and industry, while also forging strong international partnerships.
The Provost, reporting directly to the University President, serves as a member of the Executive Committee (President, Provost, and the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer) which meets periodically to review and set policy and programmatic directions of IUGB. The Provost serves as the University's Chief Academic Officer, providing vibrant and creative academic leadership in vision and planning, grants and fundraising, and partnership development. The Provost oversees the University's academic programs and presides over the Academic Affairs team that includes two academic deans, the registrar, the University Preparatory Program director, the Center for Continuing Education director, the student affairs & enrollment director, and the library & media center manager. The Provost is supported directly by an administrative assistant and a project manager.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who acts with integrity and possesses the ability to communicate with diverse constituents and fosters collegiality and clarity in the decision-making process. IUGB seeks a leader who is student-centered, faculty- and staff-focused, and community-minded who can provide strategic leadership for the campus, establishing a model that inspires creativity, discovery, and innovation. The Provost will serve as a role model for best practices in shared governance, and will demonstrate a deep commitment to diversity, inclusion, and transparency in decision making.
