President

Texas A&M University-Texarkana
President

The Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System and Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) invite inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of President. For over 50 years, TAMUT has been inspired by those who desire to push traditional higher-education boundaries. The institution seeks an entrepreneurial, energetic leader who will be creative, innovative, transparent, and collaborative in advancing the mission and vision of TAMUT while further strengthening the University's service to its students. The 5th president is expected to assume office in Summer 2023.

About the University
Nestled in the beautiful forest and lake-filled corner of northeast Texas, and set on a developing 375-acre campus, TAMUT offers the very best of college life: small class sizes and dedicated faculty and staff who help facilitate a close-knit, family-like campus community. TAMUT first opened with 323 students in 1971 as East Texas State University Center at Texarkana, an upper level branch of East Texas State university (ETSU) in Commerce, Texas. It originally shared a campus with the local community college, Texarkana College and "was established to provide third- and fourth-year college instruction for people residing in an isolated region." The university received separate accreditation in 1980, and when ETSU joined the Texas A&M University System in September 1996, the university was renamed Texas A&M University - Texarkana. The university became a four-year college (adding first- and second-year undergraduates) in 2010, moving to its new and current campus near Bringle Lake Park. TAMUT currently enrolls nearly 1,800 undergraduates and nearly 350 graduate students and boasts a 14:1 student to faculty ratio, with an average class size of 21.

The Position
Reporting directly to the Texas A&M University Chancellor, the next President of Texas A&M University-Texarkana will be the 5th person to lead this young and vibrant institution. The President will guide continued growth and development of the campus, expand partnerships within the local and surrounding communities, while maintaining the strong sense of community on campus. Additionally, the incoming President will build on efforts to unite the university community around a shared purpose and coordinate well with the TAMU System Office and other presidents within the System. The successful candidate for President will be an established leader in higher education with a heart for a small campus community. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished administrator, convener, and community builder who has a track record of elevating the units and organizations in their portfolio.
