Assistant Director, Roan Scholars Leadership Program

The Roan Scholars Leadership Program at East Tennessee State University is seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to serve as our Assistant Director.

The Roan is the university’s premier leadership-focused, competitive scholarship program. Primarily privately-funded, the Roan attracts high achieving students from across the Appalachian Highlands region who have demonstrated the potential, desire, and drive to become exceptional leaders. Through four years of unique out-of-the-classroom experiences, we challenge, inspire, connect and support Roan Scholars to help them learn, grow, and realize their potential to positively impact our world.

Our Assistant Director is responsible for all aspects of Roan Scholar development - planning, coordinating, and overseeing programming, leader development, and enrichment activities for Roan Scholars; as well as coaching, mentoring, and meeting regularly with these students throughout the year. This individual maintains contact with Roan Alumni, helps ensure regular program communications with them, and facilitates Alumni connection with the program and with Roan Scholars by planning and coordinating events and other engagement opportunities. The Assistant Director coordinates with the Roan's assigned Development Officer regarding opportunities for Roan supporters to engage with Roan Scholars and stay connected with the program; assists, as needed, with overall daily operations of the program – including recruiting and selection, scholarship administration, and fundraising; and represents the Roan at campus and community events, as well as regional and national conferences.
