The University of California Los Angeles, School of Dentistry, invites qualified applications for a non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Section of Public and Population Health (70%) and the Section of Restorative Dentistry (30%).

Candidates with experience and skills related to general dentistry, dental public health, restorative dentistry and preventive dentistry are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will also participate in broader educational programs of the section and the school.

Responsibilities in the Section of Public and Population Health for this position will be to teach courses for DDS students, including but not limited to: (1) Quality Assurance and Improvement, (2) Clinical Prevention Treatment Planning Competency Assessment, (3) Critical Thinking and Evidence-Based Dentistry; and to conduct research in oral health PROMIS (Patient Reported Outcome Measurement Information System), technology-facilitated oral health intervention among children, oral health disparity, and dental/oral diseases prevention.

In the Section of Restorative Dentistry, primary responsibilities of the position include but not limited to: 1) independent research/scholarship consistent with the candidate's professional goals, and 2) teaching pre-clinical/didactic courses as a course chair and instructor. In addition, the individual will engage in and contribute service to the school and profession.

The candidate is expected to teach and mentor predoctoral and postdoctoral, and graduate trainees, and to cover 40% of his/her salary through research funding such as grants/contracts.

DDS, DMD, or equivalent degrees is required.

Applicants with double degree of DMD/DDS, and PhD degree or equivalent and American dental public health board certified are preferred. Completion of a CODA-accredited Masters in Dental Public Health is desired but not required.

A track record of scholarly activity and interest in developing a funded research program in dental public health, psychosocial and health behavior, health services research or translational research, as well as a demonstration of or likely commitment to diversity-related teaching/research/community service, are highly desirable.

The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative and excellent organizational skills.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. An opportunity for part-time intramural private practice will be available. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table #5, Scale 0 . The salary range for this position is $82,200-$107,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan- APM-670 , which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
