Job Description:
The University at Albany, SUNY, seeks four full-time lecturers for the Program in Writing and Critical Inquiry to begin Fall Semester of 2023. We are also seeking to increase cultural diversity in our program, so we strongly encourage applicants from under-represented backgrounds.

Responsibilities include teaching seven courses per year in person, with the possibility of release from one course per year to assist with professional development opportunities as assigned by the program director. Lecturers teach the Seminar in Writing and Critical Inquiry (WCI), a required general education course designed to introduce students to college-level critical inquiry, with an emphasis on the intensive practice of writing in academic and other contexts, and implement inclusive strategies that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. ABD applicants with a May 2023 completion date will also be considered.
  • Experience teaching college-level writing.
  • Applicants must address in their application their experience working with a culturally diverse student body and first-generation college students.
  • Applicants must address in their application their engagement with diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility as it relates to their pedagogical perspective and classroom management.
  • Applicants must address in their application their experience with continued professional development, writing program development, and academic service.
  • Applicants must be willing to teach in-person classes, hold weekly office hours, and attend faculty meetings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or an MFA from a university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Three or more years' experience teaching college-level writing in first-year writing programs.
  • Experience and interest in evaluation, assessment, and writing-related research.
