The President reports to the Chancellor of the CSU System, and serves as the chief executive, academic, and administrative leader for Sacramento State, overseeing strategic planning, budget management and fundraising, academic programming, facilities maintenance, and all other areas of operation.

The new President will bring innovative ideas to the evolving, highly competitive higher education business model, will have an ambitious vision for the future, and will be expected to lead in a number of critical areas, such as student success; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; philanthropy and long-term financial sustainability; and shared governance.

Sacramento State is set on a park-like, beautiful, 300-acre, treelined campus adjacent to the American River, about five miles east of the state Capitol and a vibrant urban core. It is the sixth largest of the 23 campuses in the California State University System.
