Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) invites nominations and applications for their next Vice President for Enrollment Management and Associate Provost (VPEM). Reporting directly to the President, the VPEM will lead RIT’s Division of Enrollment Management, encompassing the departments of Enrollment Marketing, Enrollment Systems and Analytics, Financial Aid and Scholarships, Graduate Enrollment Services, International Enrollment, Project Lead the Way, and Undergraduate Admissions. The new VPEM will be RIT’s chief enrollment officer, tasked with shaping a comprehensive institutional strategy while also forging a forward-looking, data-driven, collaborative, sustainable, and access-oriented approach to enrollment management.
Founded in 1829, Rochester Institute of Technology is a comprehensive, nationally ranked doctoral university with a strong spirit of creativity and innovation. RIT’s engaged and intellectually curious community of almost 20,000 students from all 50 states and over 100 countries participates in over 200 academic degree programs in computing and information sciences, engineering, art and design, science, business, the liberal arts, the health sciences, and more. Today, RIT is making its mark and carving out its identity in a crowded higher education landscape through a focus on the integration of technology with the arts and design, a place where RIT will continue to grow in both programs and facilities. RIT’s main campus is in Rochester, New York, and RIT offers expansive opportunities for international education through its five global campuses in Weihai China; Zagreb, Croatia; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Dubai, UAE; and Pristina, Kosovo. Since its start, RIT has been a deeply student-focused institution, poised for research opportunities and collaboration with a diverse and highly supportive faculty. RIT offers unique experiences beyond the classroom through a highly ranked co-op and internship program and experiential learning centers like the interdisciplinary MAGIC Center, the Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and the soon-to-open Student Hall for Exploration and Development (SHED).
RIT has advanced significantly in its undergraduate and graduate enrollment goals and practices, with a pool of 23,763 first-year applications and 5,898 graduate applications in the Fall 2022 cycle, the largest in the University’s history. RIT awards over $500 million in financial aid each year to students, including more than $300 million in RIT grants and scholarships, through its merit-based and endowment programs as well as unique scholarships such as the Performing Arts Scholarship, the Alumni Referral Award, and Division I athletic awards for women’s and men’s hockey. With an emphasis on access, RIT has developed important pathways to the institution through the Say Yes to Education Scholarship Program, the Destler/Johnson Rochester City Scholars Program, the DDI Summer Experience pre-collegiate program, the Higher Education Opportunity Program, dozens of Combined Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s degree programs, and online degree programs and certificates. As highlighted in the President’s Report, the caliber and diversity of RIT’s student population are on the rise, as is the excitement for interdisciplinary academic interests and opportunities that intertwine technology, the arts, and design.
RIT seeks an innovative and collaborative enrollment leader who has demonstrated success in strategic planning, data-driven decision-making, collaboration across campus with senior leaders and faculty, and mentorship and professional development of a large team. The VPEM will be tasked with planning and leading broad-based programs that recruit, admit, enroll, and retain an academically strong, diverse, and talented cohort of students. The VPEM will also provide leadership and accountability for meeting enrollment targets, enhancing the diversity of the student body, and expanding the prominence of RIT nationally and internationally. The ideal candidate for VPEM will bring world-class enrollment management practices to bear, helping to ensure a holistic and sustainable approach to enrollment that drives successful outcomes for its students and the institution as it becomes a top 100 research university.
