Wayne State University – Assistant Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering

Embedded systems and IoT for Automotive

ECE faculty at the Assistant professor level, ECE at Wayne State

The College of Engineering at Wayne State University invites candidates to apply for an assistant professor position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

As the cars of the future will be loaded with electronics, the ECE department’s strategic plan calls for strengthening our research and education programs in automotive electronics. The plan considers the fact that Wayne State University is one of the largest suppliers of engineers at both the B.S. and M.S. levels to the car industry in Michigan and elsewhere. It also distinguishes itself from other institutions in the automotive field by focusing our research and educational efforts mainly on embedded system and IoT for automotive electronics, targeting smart devices and systems for self-driving vehicles, infotainment, ADAS, LiDAR and electric vehicles.

This tenure-track position which will serve as a catalyst between the semiconductor and the automotive industries, will target faculty at the assistant professor level with expertise in embedded systems, robust system integration, digital and edge computing, VLSI design, and on-chip hardware security. The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students and seek funding for his/her research. This position will assist in the department goal to start an M.S. program in semiconductor engineering targeting automotive electronics to better serve the local industry with well-trained graduates having the relevant and timely skillsets.
