The base pay range for this position is $166,500-$235,400. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Department of Pediatrics ( http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu ), and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego ( http://www.rchsd.org ) are committed to academic excellence and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment for all its faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) is seeking pediatrician candidates for a full-time or part-time positions as clinician-researcher and/or clinician educator.

The UC San Diego PHM Division admits over 6,000 children annually. Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego is the only children's hospital serving the large San Diego County and surrounding areas with a catchment area of approximately 800,000 children. Members hold system leadership roles.

Division members are the core educators for our PHM fellows, as well as medical students and residents from UC San Diego and all surrounding Pediatric and Family Medicine training programs rotating on the inpatient ward. Leadership roles within the division may be available for select candidates based on skill sets.

The successful candidates may serve at our Helen Bernardy Center for Fragile Children, the Juvenile Hall medical system, or the palliative care program. The successful candidates may add to our research in microbiome and pharmacology, clinical trials, medical education, and QI. The successful candidates will provide clinical services in various settings, including day and night work on attending only, nurse practitioner, and/or resident services. The successful candidates are expected to participate and/or lead in teaching, mentoring, and providing care for a diverse, international population, and are expected to provide equitable care to all children and families.

The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level and will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications


Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must also be board certified or eligible in Pediatric Hospital Medicine.

Preferred qualifications
Candidates with at least 5 years of clinical experience in a tertiary care pediatric setting are preferred. Candidates with sub-board certification in palliative care medicine practicing pediatric palliative care medicine and pediatric hospital medicine are preferred.

Candidates with clinical experience performing sedation and serving in healthcare systems roles such as interfacility transport are also preferred. Candidates with experience performing research and/or leading a division-level research program are preferred.

Candidates with experience providing care to patients and families from diverse backgrounds and excellent communication skills are also preferred.
