Assistant Professor in Business Artificial Intelligence

The School of Business at the University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Business Artificial Intelligence. This position is a joint hire by the departments of Information Systems & Business Analytics and Information Security & Digital Forensics within the School of Business. The new hire will also be a member of the UAlbany AI Institute. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of ongoing research and teaching interest and expertise in AI in the world of business. An established record of research in the area is desirable.

The University at Albany is conducting a large cluster hire of 26 faculty members in the broad area of artificial intelligence. These positions span the campus to include 20 departments in eight schools and colleges. In addition, the recruitment of a Director of the UAlbany Institute for Artificial Intelligence is underway.

 

The School of Business at UAlbany is the second largest school / college on campus. It is housed in the Massry Center for Business, which is a state-of-the-art building, providing an exceptional environment for our students and faculty to promote innovation, networking and the sharing of ideas. With technologically advanced classrooms, accounting and digital forensics labs, a trading room with Bloomberg terminals and extensive collaborative learning spaces, the school provides an outstanding environment for learning and research.  The School of Business maintains a dual accreditation (Business and Accounting) from AASCB, the premier accreditation body for business schools.

 

About 100 faculty members span six departments within the School of Business – Accounting & Law; Finance; Information Systems & Business Analytics; Information Security & Digital Forensics; Management; Marketing. The school offers four undergraduate majors and six graduate degrees serving about 1,500 undergraduate students majoring in a business discipline and graduate students.

 

Requirements:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, Business Analytics, Information Security, or a related field, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization by May 2023.
  • Applicants must address in their application their ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
  • Applicants must demonstrate evidence of artificial intelligence in their existing research program.
  • A demonstrated potential for research in the field of Business Analytics, Digital Forensics, Information Security and/or Cybersecurity
  • Applicants must address their plan and ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of Business Analytics, Information Security and/or Digital Forensics
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated potential for seeking external funding for their research.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of research in the field of Digital Forensics, Cybersecurity, and/or Business Analytics
  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses
  • Demonstrated experience in applying for and obtaining external funding.

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Assistant Professor – Tenure Track (10 months). Salary is competitive
