Salt Lake Community College invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of Health Sciences. Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is now Utah's largest two-year institution and only comprehensive community college. As a top 12 college nationally for associate degrees awarded, SLCC offers more than 120 programs of study at multiple sites, full campuses and online. The new Dean of Health Sciences will join an outstanding leadership team and have the opportunity to work with dynamic, innovative leaders committed to student access, inclusion and completion.

The School of Health Sciences at Salt Lake Community College is committed to providing quality education in nursing and allied health fields, ensuring each graduate is ready to enter a healthcare profession. Experienced and clinically-prepared faculty, along with hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings, allow students to become skilled in the science of healing and art of compassion and ready to serve their community. There are 37 full time faculty and 43 adjunct faculty at the School. Student enrollment for 2017/18 is 740 students in the 9 programs.

In order to lead the faculty and staff in the School of Health Sciences, the selected candidate is required to be an accomplished practitioner with 3-5 years of college teaching experience. The candidate will be a visionary leader with experience in creating and sustaining community partnerships, preferably in the medical field and administrative experience that evidences effectiveness in team building and empowerment of others. She/he should have excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrated skill at change management and good listening skills. Candidates must also have a strong record of budget management, fund-raising and advocacy.

The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate in a health sciences-related field, preferably in an area taught in the School of Health Sciences. She/he will also have a deep appreciation of the community college mission and its importance to the community. The candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and a record of providing access to opportunity. The candidate will be a team player, dedicated to providing the resources, guidance and support for a talented and committed faculty and staff.
