ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT CHAIR IN GEOGRAPHY

CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES, 90095-1524. University of California, Los Angeles, Department of Geography. ALEXANDER VON HUMBOLDT CHAIR IN GEOGRAPHY. The Department seeks an outstanding and eminent scholar with a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education. Appointment will be at the rank of Full Professor, with tenure. Appointment will begin in the 2023-2024 academic year. Established in 1997, the Humboldt Chair is endowed by a generous gift from the Henry J. Bruman Foundation to "promote programming that examines the fundamental interdependence of humans and the environment in the spirit of the philosophy and teachings of Alexander von Humboldt". The endowment for the Chair provides funds that may be used for research expenses, graduate student support, and summer salary. Furthermore, the funds are provided to support guest speakers and the department's annual Alexander Von Humboldt Day event.
We will consider candidates with a PhD in all fields of Geography, or related field. We are seeking those who have an exceptional record of peer-reviewed publications, show additional evidence of outstanding scholarship and recognition in Geography; evidence of experience and excellence in teaching and evidence of service to academia and the discipline.

The posted UC salary scales set ( https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html ) the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table #1 for the salary range. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e. a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions. A reasonable estimated salary range for this position is $172,000-$272,000, inclusive of the salary scale and off-scale salary components. See campus compensation page for additional information.
