Executive Vice President for Administration and Finance

The Georgia Institute of Technology (“Georgia Tech” or “the Institute”) invites nominations and applications for the position of Executive Vice President (EVP) for Administration and Finance (A&F). Reporting to the President, the EVP is the 3rd ranking position in Georgia Tech’s administrative leadership team behind the President and the Provost. As the chief business officer, the EVP oversees a $2.6 billion enterprise and is a key member of the President’s cabinet, working closely with the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia (USG) and the USG System Office.

The EVP leads the business units that collectively support the administrative, financial, information, and physical infrastructure services for the Georgia Tech community. Heading up a division of almost 1,600 full-time, part-time, and student employees, the EVP leads a staff that provide the services that the institution needs to operate efficiently on a day-to-day basis and helps to set the vision to succeed in the future. The Division’s annual budget is over $160 million. The next EVP will have the unique opportunity to work closely with the President and other campus leaders to implement the Georgia Tech Strategic Plan, a strategic roadmap that was launched in November 2020 with contributions from more than 5,700 members of the Georgia Tech community. The plan is grounded on a new mission statement that reaffirms the Institute’s commitment to “developing leaders who advance technology and improve the human condition.”

The EVP plays an integral role in leading the Division of Administration and Finance which promotes strategic administrative, financial, technological, and physical infrastructure services to the Georgia Tech community. A&F encompasses the following areas: fiscal management and reporting, budgeting, human resources management, business services, campus sustainability, facilities planning, design, construction, maintenance and operations, campus safety, administrative information systems and technology, campus planning, and real estate development.

The successful candidate will have a record of successful organizational decision-making and experience managing personnel within a complex university, college, nonprofit or business environment. The ideal candidate will have a background in financial analysis and administration and at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in overseeing accounting and financial operations. They will also have experience with the stewardship and administration of major external fund sources in a university setting, notably including sponsored research and private philanthropy. Experience managing human resources, facilities, and/or information technology processes and practices is preferred. Operational knowledge and appreciation of the unique environment of university systems are considered a plus. A graduate degree in finance, business administration, or related area is preferred.

An international leader in managing the global transition from an industrial economy to an information economy, Georgia Tech is a leading research performer. Research expenditures across its six colleges (Engineering, Computing, Sciences, Liberal Arts, Design and Business) and the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) place Georgia Tech in the top 20 universities nationwide. The Institute is an economic development engine for the state of Georgia that drives innovation and progress at regional, national and international levels.

Founded in 1885, Georgia Tech is the second fastest growing public university in the nation and is also among the most selective. With over 45,000 students on the main campus in Atlanta, Georgia and on satellite locations in France and China, as well as online, there were more than 50,000 applicants to the undergraduate program in 2022. Students come from all fifty states and 149 countries. As Georgia Tech’s President Angel Cabrera has said, “the world is asking us to grow.”
