Earlier this year, Rice welcomed Reginald DesRoches as its new president, Amy Dittmar as its new Provost, and Kelly Fox, as its new Vice President for Finance and Administration. All are committed to ensuring Rice rises to a new level of distinction, nationally and internationally, for impactful research, award-winning scholarship, and insightful creative work. Reporting to the Provost, the Associate Provost IR/IE is a key member of the provost’s leadership team and plays a critical role supporting university-wide planning, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making.

 

For this critical position, Rice is seeking a strategic and innovative leader who thinks broadly about institutional effectiveness and the way IR/IE should interface with other University functions and offices to most effectively support the academic enterprise, student success, and a culture of inclusive excellence. The Associate Provost IR/IE will play an integral role in the development of a comprehensive and integrated data warehouse and partner with units across the institution to supercharge efforts for the office to be strategic, proactive, and analytical in creating a culture of data-informed decision-making and planning. The Associate Provost IR/IE will be responsible for leading a collaborative, experienced staff team to support the IR/IE office and fostering a culture of strategic and data-informed decision-making. They will bring superb analytical skills and a sophisticated understanding of effective, rigorous institutional research and decision support in the context of current higher education challenges and imperatives. They will have a demonstrated track record of data management and analytics, a collaborative leadership style, and the capacity to work and communicate effectively in a complex institution with multiple stakeholders with diverse perspectives. The successful candidate will be an intellectually curious professional who possesses strong leadership and management skills, and at least ten years of progressively deeper responsibilities relating to both institutional research and institutional effectiveness.
