Dean, College of Health Sciences

Georgia College & State University (Georgia College) seeks a forward-thinking, collaborative, energetic, and accomplished administrator, with a history of decisive and innovative leadership, to serve as its next Dean of the College of Health Sciences (CoHS). The mission of the College of Health Sciences is to provide undergraduate and graduate programs in disciplines that emphasize health education, promotion, maintenance, and restoration.  As its successful dean retires, CoHS is well positioned to build on its legacy of excellence and enhance its distinctiveness as an exceptional health sciences college within a prominent liberal arts university.

Reporting directly to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the College's chief academic, executive, and fiscal officer, and a member of the President's Leadership Council, Dean's Council, and Academic Leadership Team.  The Dean of the College of Health Sciences will provide leadership and oversight for the strategic, academic, intellectual and administrative affairs of the College.  The Dean will be charged with creating a shared vision for the College that will support the University's commitment to teaching excellence and advance its mission to provide rigorous, high quality undergraduate and graduate professional programs.

The Dean will work with development staff to cultivate alumni and donors; fundraise, develop and administer the College's budget; and ensure the College's active collaboration and prominent reputation within the local and state communities and the greater higher education and healthcare communities.

The Dean will provide visionary leadership to ensure programs within the College are excellent, relevant, transformable, viable for the future, and supportive of the University's strategic plan, mission, and vision.  The Dean will oversee the recruitment of a diverse and talented faculty and staff and continue the climate of collegiality and inclusion within the College; support and plan the on-going development of chairs, faculty, and staff, including faculty evaluation and feedback to faculty on performance; and support the faculty through mentoring programs and in achieving standards of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the university, community, and profession.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in a field represented within the college from a regionally accredited institution and will provide evidence of distinguished teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with that of a full professor at a regionally accredited four-year institution.  Fullest consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in developing high-impact pedagogies and innovative and visionary undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as successful administrative and leadership experience.
